Adding the same number to each cell in a column

One way:

Enter 1.5 in a blank cell. Copy the cell. Select the cells to be added
to. Choose Edit/Paste Special, selecting the Add and Values radio
buttons.
 
Try this:

Enter 1.5 in a blank cell and select that cell

From the Excel main menu:
<edit><copy>

Next....select the cells you want to add the 1.5 to
Then...<edit><paste special>....Check: Add
Click [OK]

In an empty cell some where place 1.5. Copy that cell .... select the
column you want to add to and right click, select paste special>add and ok
out.
