Adding Slave HDD to Win XP

Can I install a formatted HDD with data on it as a slave
drive in Win XP without re-formatting the drive?
 
yes you can as long as the new HDD doesn't have an
operating system installed on it that uses NTFS and a
pasword to acess it.
