Adding Shared Contacts to OAB

I have read the ridiculous method you must use to add another user's shared
contacts to your address book. (Thanks Sue Mosher) Does anyone know if
that is a relatively recent "feature"? I know I have seen shared contacts
listed in the address book without the gymnastics required in Outlook 2003.
Maybe it was easier in Outlook 97/98???

Please help me feel like I'm not going crazy!!

Those "shared contacts" could have been from public folders, which require no jumping through hoops.

The fact that contacts from other mailboxes can be displayed in the address book at all still amazes me, regardless of how involved the process is.

As I recall, and mind you it was a few years ago, it was simply an attorney's
contacts shared with his secretary and we were able to just turn it on as an
Outlook Address Book so it would appear when she addressed an email. In
fact, she had at least 2 additional shared contacts she accessed that way.

It doesn't matter I guess because it's not the way it is today. I just
hoped to hear... "yeah! It used to be a lot easier until Microsoft....."
blah blah blah.

Thanks anyway.
