Does anyone know how to add a printer to ADS. The problem
I have is that it is not actually connected to a server it
has it's own IP address and is just connected to the
network, no server. Any suggestions would be helpful.
This would be on Windows 2000 Server for all other servers
and computers to get access for it which those machines
would be running Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows XP, or
Windows 2003 Server.

Thanks,
Chris

Create a print queue on your server and make your clients use printer trough
your server. This way you can enforce security on printer and prioritize
queues. It will also publish the printer to AD.

So are you saying to add a print queue to the server that
holds the ADS? Because I went in to try to add the
printer to the ADS by using it's IP number and I also tried
using the http://000.000.000.00 (sample ip address) which
right now from my computer that is how I have it setup to
print. But neither one of those worked. Once it is in thr
ADS then I won't have to do that anymore, it will be
listed there. Also where do I go to setup the print queue?

Well if you have some other server it would be better to create print queue
there than on a DC.

On a DC install printer as on a client and share the printer to the network.
Change clients to connect to your servers print queue rather than directly
to the printer. Adding TCP/IP printer is fairly easy. Manually you can
create TCP/IP printer port, point IP address to your printer IP and install
print driver.
