Adding PowerToys to XP??

Something is preventing me from adding PowerToys to XP Home ( SP 2, 512 Kb
ram, 14 Gb HDD space, Spybot 1.4, Ad-Aware 1.06, SpywareBlaster).

I tried to add the new version of Calc. It downloaded to the proper location
and when I run the Installation Wizard I got the message that it had been
added to the system. But I can't open it by clicking the shortcut on the
desktop. The menu that appears on a right-click contains "Install" instead
of "Open" as the first option, and a double left click starts the
Installation Wizard again instead of the utility. I have tried rebooting
after installation but nothing changes.

Insights would be welcomed.

Go to Start -> All Programs and look for an entry titled
"Powertoys for Windows XP". You should find the Calculator
listed there.

My best guess is that the icon on your desktop is either a
shorcut to the installation file or a copy of the file you
downloaded. If you're curious you can right click on the file
and select Properties. The information on the General tab
should give you a clue as to the exact nature of the file.

Thanks for the suggestion, but there is no listing for "PowerToys" anywhere
in the "All Programs" section of my start menu nor in "Add/Remove Programs".
I deleted the folder containing the .exe file from C:\Windows\Program Files
and tried to download the Calc again. Doing so requires validation of the
authenticity of my installation of XP (yes, it is). The first time I did so,
everything went smoothly and I was validated. Now I am placed in loop where
I go from validation code back to validation request back to validation code
and on and on, never receiving validation.

I guess I was not destined to have any PowerToys. But thanks for the reply.

Do a System Restore to a date before you the folder. Then
try again.
