adding photos - more than one at a time

I saw a power point presentation where individual pictures
came in from all sides, and settled into their spots and
then I guess it was the next frame where more pictures
came in. Some pictures rolled in, some faded in and some
flew in.

How can I do that with PP 97? I can only seem to add one
picture per a slide.

TIA

Shyam's given you the info on batch importing pictures, which is a quick
way to get all the images on the correct slides at once.

Or you can just use Insert/Picture/From File as many times as is
necessary to add images to a slide manually. This is probably the
easiest to do if you only have a few slides which need multiple images.

The other replies focus on getting the photos into PPT. I'm probably
misreading it, but I get the idea that's not your problem so much as
animating them once they're inserted. If not, ignore me. I'm mostly
harmless.

PowerPoint 97's animation features are nowhere as elaborate as PowerPoint
2002's, so you can't do what you're after directly; you can fake it to some
degree, though.

For example, you could create one slide with Picture A then another with
Picture A (in the same place) and Picture B now added.

Use a wipe slide transition and it appears that Picture B has wiped onto the
original slide.

The bit I'm not clear about is that you can only insert one picture per
slide.
What happens if you try to insert more?
