Adding Network Components

From within the Control Panel / Networking, I am trying to install a network
component (XP Home) type of "Client" from the list of:

Client
Service
Protocol

Within my LAN connection and properties popup window.

When I click the Add button, a popup window appears stating an error
occurred during configuration of the network on this computer.

Nothing else is mentioned.

Is this to do with the fact that I cannot add components?

"Windows was unable to find any drivers for this device". If you have a
disk that contains the updated driver, or you wish to search in another
location, click OK"

I put my XP disk in and entered D: as the place to look but it cannot find
anything.

How can I add these new components?

I have also tried to setup home networking using the wizard but I get an
error message stating

You're still missing the error message text, Becky.

I am more concerned with the fact that my home networking setup wizard is not
working.

It gets to the end of the wizard and then displays the message:

Cannot Complete the Network Setup Wizard

An error occurred during configuration of the networks on this computer,

If I right-click the LAN connection and click repair I get this message:

Repair 1394

Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action
cannot be completed:

TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection. Cannot proceed.

There is a TCP/IP entry on the list if I view the properties of the LAN
connection.

OK, you have a Alcatel USB broadband modem, connecting by USB to your host.
Does the host have Ethernet? Why are you trying to share Internet service by
Firewire ("1394")? Try and describe, in more detail, how everything connects to
each other.
