Being easily confused I would like to be able to ad
a notation to the drive identification letter for my
CD's.
That is I would like to designate one as F:Read, and one
G: Write on My Computer. Then I can physically mark
the drives so I won't be fumbling with discs.
How might I accomplish this?

i am not sure you can change the names of cdrom and cdrs. (please correct
me if i'm wrong.)

however, it can be noted that cdroms are labeled as CDROM drive, DVDs as DVD
Drive, and writer would be CD-RW or DVD-RW where RW may mean read/write.

i hope this helps.

Open "My Computer", then right-click-drag each of your CD (or any other)
drives to the desktop. Choose "Create Shortcut Here" from the pop-up menu.
Then right-click each shortcut, choose "Rename" from the pop-up, and enter
an appropriate name for the shortcut. Now you can access your CD drives from
the desktop with meaningful names. I have shortcuts to all my drives on the
desktop and find accessing them from there (by double-clicking the icon)
much faster and easier than Windows Explorer. Hope this helps.
