I am having a horrible time trying to add an mp3 file to my slideshow that
will play on someone's computer. I have tried several times, but to no avail.
Everyone sends me a message reply "NO SOUND".
I just want it to play the same for my friends on their computer as it
does on my computer.
Can anyone help me?

MP3s are not embedded into the presentation file, so when you send only the PPT
file you are sending it without sound. You'll need to send the MP3 file also.
I would recommend that you zip the two files together and send them with
instructions to unzip them to a folder on the user's hard drive and play the
presentation from there.

If you want them to be able to play directly from the email, you'll need to
embed the sound file. That means that you'll have to convert the MP3 to a WAV
file, since only WAV's can be embedded. Before doing this, be forewarned that
the WAV sound file will be about ten times larger than the MP3. You will also
have to do the conversion in some other software. You can do a google search
for "MP3 to WAV" to fine software capable of this, or you can purchase an add-in
for Windows Media Player 9. See
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/wi...tarted//Personalization/Plugins.asp#MP3Create.

Once you have converted the file you will need to move it to the same folder
where your presentation resides and then edit your presentation. Delete the
MP3, go to Tools > Options > General and change the "Link sounds with file size
greater than" to 50000 (which is 50 MB). Then insert the WAV file. Save the
presentation and check its size in Windows Explorer. The size should have
increased by the amount equal to the WAV file. Now you are ready to email it to
people.

I have just experienced your pain recently and was recently provided a great
way to make this work.

The issue is that only WAV files can be embedded (as an object) and become
an actual part of the presentation. All other sound file types (MP3.MIDI,
etc...) are "linked" to the presentation and must be emailed as a file with
the powerpoint and then must be downloaded on the persons computer who wants
to play and hear the same thing..... BUT

Here is a way I was shown how you can make then send a presentation to
someone in an email as ONE FILE and when the person clicks it it will show
your presentation and play the sounds. It takes a few steps on your side but
it is worth it in the end. And until Microsoft allows other sound file types
be be embeded there is no easy way to do this but this works.

In short what you will do is make your presentation like you want and know
is working, you'll ZIP it up and then convert the zip presentation to an EXE
file that is what gets sent.... it is easy and very weel explained here with
screen shots and links and all you will need to do this...

Good Luck!!
