Sounds to me like you may have 2 differing speed sticks of memory that don't
get along well.

Hi,

Sounds like the new is incompatible with the old, especially if either works
fine by itself. Not much you can do there except get two (or more) sticks
that are compatible with each other.

Check your documentation and see if your motherboard supports two double
sided memory sticks. I have a feeling that you probably need one double
sided and one single sided stick for it to operate correctly.

Greetings --

It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module be compatible
with both the motherboard and any other RAM module(s) in the system.
Additionally, there are sometimes jumper switches on older
motherboards that need to be reset for the new RAM configuration.
Consult your motherboard's manual.
