adding memory

dear all,

I have added 512 MB memory to my system, it had 256 MB.
Now i have System errors and my PC shuts down. After
removing the additional memory the problems are over.
My computer sees the 768MB. The memorystick is new.
Please, can anyone tell me what causes the problem.
Is it XP?

Check the documentation for your motherboard. Many
motherboars will not accept 512mb chips. Mine maxes at
256 per slot. Also, some boards require certain
combinations of memory.
