Is there a way to add items to the main menu in XP? For instance, I have "My
Pictures" but is there a way to add "My eBooks" too? Thank you.

I would add a folder named eBooks to the All Users folder, then add a
"Common eBooks" value with a data type regsz_expand_ that pointed at
%allusersprofile%/eBooks in the registry at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders

The rest is here:
Add Custom Folder to My Computer or the Desktop at Registry Guide ...:

If you're using the XP style Start menu, you have two options. The first one
involves pinning the folder to the left side of the Start menu. The second one
takes advantage of the OEM location on the right hand side.

Option 1. Pin folder to Start menu.

Take a look at these web sites for info on adding "Pin to Start menu" to right
click menu.

How to add "Pin to Start menu" option for folders in Windows XP/Vista?

Once you've enabled this feature, go to My eBooks, right click on the folder,
and select "Pin to Start menu". You should now see a link on the left hand side
of your Start menu to your My eBooks folder.

Option 2. Utilize OEM link location on right side of Start menu under the Run
command.

Take a look at these web sites for more info.

Note: You might want to create a restore point before making any of the above
suggested changes to your computer.

Good luck
