Mike I

I want to add a 10 gig drive to a computer (running XP
Professional), but theres a catch;

The drive in question had a registry error which
continually was restarting the boot which eventually
flashed a blue screen with a reference to a registry
error (i.e. XP never loaded on this drive). I could not
reinstall XP on this drive (when it was in my old system)
because it would get to a point and ask for an admin
password, and my password would not work. additionally,
i did not have system restore going so that boot option
was not available.

Anyway, i was hoping to be able to put it in my friends
system and reformat it. Has anyone done this, or will my
above issue with the drive cause a problem?

Any ideas would be welcome to hear.

Hello

It shoudl work fine just make the cdrom in oyur
friends pc the primary boot device and let it go, how
course he has his own copy of XP correct

As long as you're adding it as a drive that's not booting the system you'll
be fine.

I wouldn't spend much time with a 10 GB drive, did you mean
100 GB?

If it is installed as a SLAVE with the jumpers, the boot
registry shouldn't matter and you can delete or format the
drive's contents.
