Hi, probably simple but, how do I add up a figure from several sheets into
the first sheet. All the figures are on the same columns and rows on the
sheets!
Thanks

Hi back,
Nope, that didn't work...We have the sheets named Values 1, Values 2 and
on and on! I don't know if that is causing your formula not to work?

Thank You, that worked! I just have to rename all the future following
sheets. I've only used 20 sheets so far and the rest are still labeled
sheets instead of value 1, value 2 and so on. Is there a way to name all the
sheets to come, value 21, value 22 and so on with just a stroke of the
keyboard and whatever? Thanks again. I'm just weeks into using excel and
don't know anything yet. I'm confined to a wheelchair and can't get to like
a community college to learn and I would desperately like to learn without
bothering you guys ...is there a learning CD or how did you learn?

Hi! "Treeskier" ,
As you mentioned, if you are really newbie of Excel, then
I would recommend:
"Microsoft Office Excel 2003 Step by Step" by Microsoft Press.
( This book together with nice CD-ROM eBook
is really nice for newbie,
even if you know nothing about Excel, still you can easily understand this book
and when you finish, you can be like expert of Excel...
( I mean a lot of office worker do not know much about each function of Excel
in this book.)

Firstly,Your hands-on, self-study guide to building the skills you need to
succeed with Excel 2003.
This practical, hands-on tutorial expertly builds your skills with Microsoft
Office Excel 2003?one step at a time! With STEP BY STEP,
you work at your own pace through easy-to-follow lessons
and practice exercises
to learn exactly the tools and techniques you
need!http://www.Microsoft.com/mspress/books/5605.asp

***
Next step; if you love Excel tighter with VBA.), or higher level
then,
http://www.microsoft.com/MSPress/books/6647.asp

If you learn these books(i.e. you have these kinds of Excel-Literacy),
then you can see/recognize a lot of good Home Page
around the world.... (How to, Tips with good example
with Google Search)

Good Luck!

You could even use Andy's suggestion by inserting a sheet to the far right
(called LastSheet) and one to the far left (called FirstSheet).

Then his original formula:

=sum(firstsheet:lastsheet!a2)

will add all the A2 cells in the sheets that are between the first and last
sheet.

(If you use the names with spaces, the second formula will work fine.)

And if you make a sandwich of your workbook (firstsheet and lastsheet are like
the outside layers of bread), then you won't even have to care about any of the
names in between them.

And if you want to exclude a sheet, just drag it outside the sandwich. If you
need more sheets, just insert it in between the first & last sheet.

Just like Dagwood would do!

Thanks Oda,
That would be what I'm looking for except that I'm using Excel 97. Any
difference?

Hi! "Treeskier",
You can read through Excel2003 books even you have only Excel97 software.
I do not know if you will be able to get old version of StepByStep books.
(You might buy these old version's books at big book store,
or How about asking Microsoft Press?).
Any way, the very basic concepts are the same/similar,
Excel97 and 2003 are both EXCEL!

Remarks:
There are some(partially big) difference between Excel97 and Excel2003,
If you have chance to use newer version of Software or PC,
or if you can afford to get Excel2003,
then Excel2003 is much better than Excel97, for you to learn.
( the newer , the better, as far as MS Office/Excel is concerned.)
( Remarks.
Excel2003 can install only under Windows2000, or WindowsXP,
NOT Windows98, 98SE, ME.)

What state or city are you living?
If it locates near some of my friends,
then I might ask some of them to help you.

****
If you can make some effort to resolve the difference
between Excel97 and Excel2003,
and you may try to use this book, with some modifications.)

Yeah, I find some for 2000, 2002 and 2003 but no 97. I suppose I should just
get the 2003 and try to apply what I learn from that?
