Adding file extensions.

Is it possible to add file extensions so that these can open without going on
the web find info for this?

No...you will need to use the appropriate application...
though many text files can be opened by most any text editor...
but the formatting will be lost
 
At times I donwload files with extensions and I can't open them because
Windows does not recognise them and then asks if I want to go online to find
the program that created this file. Some of the extensions I have come by
are: .ace; .rnd, .bin..rar,.wpd and more. I know the wpd one is associated
with Wordperfect but I still can't open it. I was under the impressions that
Office Word could open this file as when I installed Word, it seems to me I
installed the software to do so.

To open any file, you need to either have installed the program that
created it, or some compatible program.

Yes, a wpd file is a WordPerfect document. You can open it with
WordPerfect. To open it in Word, read here:
