Here is the scenario:

I have abc.com Windows 2000 Domain with 2 Windows 2000 DCs (DNS Active
Directory Integrated, DHCP included). I have added new Windows 2000 Server
that act as a member server and has DNS service installed. I tried to add
abc.com zone on this new server but I am unsuccessful to do it. I have tried
using secondary zone but I cannot update records to my new server. Is there
a way that I can have a copy of this zone even though that the server acts
as a member server.

That is the correct way. Likely you have one of two problems:

1) The existing AD-DNS servers have not allowed zone transfers to
the new server

2) Some physical/networking problem is preventing the new DNS
from contacting those existing masters.

Of course you might have just put in the IP of the masters wrong, but
I am betting on one of the above.

Yes. It is trivial if you network is functional AND you go into the
DNS server ZONE properties and allow it to make the transfers.

thanks.
