I recently saw a screen shot in Windows XP, where the
directory size (ie the size of all the files in that
directory) was displayed in Windows Explorer.

Can anyone tell me how to turn this function on?

THanks

Ian

Thanks Jason, but not the status bar - I am talking about
the "Detailed" view in Windows explorer, where the
contents of a directory is listed and normally includes:
name of the file, the date and size etc.

Normally, next to a sub-directory the size is blank, but I
want to get the size to appear in this detailed view.
Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Ian,

Are you sure that the size was listed for the directories? Can you
post a link to the screenshot? I see no option in the header list that
would show directory size.

If you hover over a folder it's shown in the tooltip - you may need to wait. It not a feature of windows as it's very, very, slow and explorer would have to wait before showing your files.

Somepeople write addins for explorer to do this. They probably work fine with a small number of folders.
