Adding computers to an existing wireless setup

Currently I have a Netgear WGR614 Cable/DSL Router (running in
infrastructure mode at 802.11g using WEP) connected to a cable modem and a
notebook using a Netgear WG511 wireless card. I plan on setting up WPA on
this configuration when Netgear makes the fireware and drivers available
(hopefully in the next month). Setup is stable and works fine .

What I want to do is connect 2 computers on a lower level of the house to
this setup. The computers are within 3 feet of each other. I have other
electronic equipment that I might want to connect wirelessly to this LAN
later.I know I can use PCI cards and USB 2.0 802.11g devices for the
computers, but is there a way to setup another router and plug in the
computers to the router. I get the impression a bridge won't handle
security. I want to use WPA here also.
Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure I understand completely what you are trying to do, but
there are some devices that can act as repeaters/point to
multipoint/access point clients/WDS (wireless distribution system)/

I don't know specifically from first hand experience if there are
devices that will do this with the Netgear "g" router, but looking at
their product list,
http://www.netgear.com/products/details/WGE101.asp?view=
looks to be the best candidate for your needs.

I believe this device only works in Adhoc mode.
All I want to do is add wirelessly the 2 computers downstairs to the
wireless setup I already have working in infrastructure mode on the midlevel
of the house. I thought infrastruture mode would be more secure than adhoc
mode.

I read the specs of the device, it will work in infrastructure and it
will bridge wirelessly.
