Am looking for something easy to use that will add brakes (tracks) to
a wav file. Any suggestions?

You should be able to do that with most any wave editor (if I understand
you) by copying one and pasting to another.

Audacity is a free wave editor.

I like Wave Repair for track splitting.

Program: Wave Repair
Author: Clive Backham
Install: n.i.
Ware: Liteware (recording and track splitting functions are free)

Thanks guys.

I downloaded both suggestions and I thin I'm going to try Audacity
because of being freeware and having more options. DadiOH if you want
to jump in and save me time by pointing out the obvious on how I can
put track brakes in I'd appreciate it. What I've done is record an
hour talk from my local radio. I listen to it in the car. I would
like to be able to place tracks every 10 minutes or so which would let
me skip forward if it's a subject I'm not real interested in.

One way is to create individual wave files so that you wind up with many
small waves vs one big one. With Audacity, you would load the file,
select a section, and export the selection. Repeat as necessary. But
for splitting like that, the app that Susan pointed you to is better.
Best one I know is CD Wave Editor.

Another way is to make cue sheets which allows you to keep the file as
one big wave which it seems is what you want (CD Wave Editor can be used
for that too). Never done that, no need, but you can get some info
at...

Again, thanks to both of you.
