Adding based on cell location

I would like to add a column based on a specific cell's
value.

For instance, say I type the number "10" into cell A1. I
would then like to add the contents of cells C1 through
C10 =sum(C1:C10). Then, if I typed "20" into cell A1, I
would like to have the spreadsheet automatically add cells
C1 through C20 =sum(C1:C20).
