Adding Audio to timeline problem

Hello all,

I've just started using Windows Movie Maker, and it doesn't seem very
welcoming --- any attempt, at all, to add an audio file to the timeline (with
any audio file) prompts Windows Movie Maker to shut down (error --- send,
don't send). This is extremely frustrating, and I was wondering if anyone's
ever seen such a ridiculous problem before, or knows of any way to combat it?

Hey, that really worked. He recommended: Use the Windows XP 'Event Viewer' to
help assess problems... Start > right-click on My Computer > Manage > System
Tools > Event Viewer > Application. Scroll through the log and check anything
with a red Error icon. Double click on the line item to read about what
happened.

The error mentioned ffdshow, which I then uninstalled (I had downloaded it
while trying to obtain a codec to play my digital camera movies, but it
didn't work), and now I can add music to my timeline. Thanks Cari and Papa
John!
