Help needed.

Iam have just purchased an email address and am trying to add the account to
windows mail. I have followed all the steps required but continually get the
following error message. I have spoken to the ISP who conform the mail box is
active, does anybody know what this error message means as I am getting very
frustrated I have double checkt the STMP and POP3 server information which is
correct. I am also running Norten Anit Virus.

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.busymummy.co.uk',
Server: 'mail.busymummy.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Any advice will be greatfully receieved.

Yes I was able to pick up the message from here - in fact I have deleted
them
all except one to see if that was the problem. I am still unable to use
windows mail. The error message is:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.busymummy.co.uk',
Server: 'mail.busymummy.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Is is the socket error?

I am running out of ideas....

You might try to check your mail at http://www.mail2web.com.
If that works, it verifies that your username and password are correct.
I don't know if busymummy.co.uk offers web mail access since
it is not an ISP but a vanity domain for a parenting site.

sorry my error message is:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject '', Account:
'(e-mail address removed)', Server: 'smtp.iomartmail.com', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Andrew - I was having the exact same issue yesterday. I use a mail server
that is managed by a third party and called them - they ran me through a
couple of things, including trying to telnet their server via a dos prompt.
I couldn't even do this telnet function - then they asked me if I was using
Vista because apparently Vista is not automatically functional with
telnet...you have to activate it via your control panel. You may want to try
this. It did not work for me but it may for you. The second thing I did was
I disabled my antivirus software's (I use Spysweeper) email scanning function
- after I did this the emails started flowing through. It kind of defeats
the purpose of having antivirus software as I would imagine a high % of
viruses are transmitted via email...but it is the only way I could figure out
how to get it working. You may want to try the same thing. Good luck!

Norton antivirus is known to be incompatible with Windows Mail.
Uninstall it, reboot and try your mail again.
Once your mail is working properly, download and install the free
Avast antivirus, but be sure to unselect its mail scan option.

If you still have a problem after Norton is uninstalled, reply back
and we can give you additional help.
