Adding a zone to IE6

I believe that I did this once by manually editing the registry, but,
(1) I cannot remember how I did it, and, (2) coincidentally my OS
crashed severely soon after that to the point where I had to reload
Windows (XP home), so my edits may not have been complete or internally
consistent.

Is there a way to do this through Control Panel or some other tool that
would perform the task completely and correctly?

What I'd like to have is another zone that is "semi-trusted", where I
would allow some, but not all, of the additional capabilities that
trusted sites have.

I don't know of a tool that will allow you to add a custom security zone for
IE via a GUI or programmatically. You'll have to edit the registry
manually. Make sure you back up your registry first, before doing so!
Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if
a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring
the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key"
Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

This is a PDF of a PowerPoint presentation that has the tricks you'll need
to do -

basically you export the trusted zone settings to a .reg file, edit that
file and reimport it. You'll also have to make another registry change to
make the new zone visible in IE's settings as spelled out in the PDF.
