How do I go about doing this? I want to install another drive on a Dell dimension PC.
How can I tell whether I need IDE/SATA? Will IDE fitn into anything?
Is there an upper limit that an older motherbroard can address? How doI check this for particular model?
In terms of actually installing, is it simply a case of slide into rack, plug into power supply and MB and turn on?

i'm gonna guess and say you need an IDE drive but without knowing more about the PC i can't say for definate

the actual install as you said is pretty damn easy, slide it into a spare slot and fix with screws, attatch the power and ribbon or SATA cable, power up your PC

in XP you need to go into control panel > Admin tools > computer management, select disk management on the left, you'll see the new drive, right click it and select format, then follow the wizard

Open the machine and check current hard drive connection, IDE is a long thin cable about an inch and a half long, SATA is a much smaller connection about 3cm oblong. Installation as above :)
