Just got a new PC with A7N8X-e and a 120gig SATA drive on it. I noticed it
said something about RAID when it booted.
I want to add an IDE drive with my files on it from my old PC to one of the
IDE channels on the board. What's the procedure? Will it be recognised ok?
I've seen stuff about the main drive not booting and other various problems
when doing this.

In order to utilise raid, you require a second, preferably identical, sata
hd.
You can add a std hd to the ide, as per normal, set it as master.
I run sata raid + 2*ide hd's, without problems

Ok, do I have to set first boot to SCSI in the bios for this to work?

If you would like to boot from SATA first, yes. Otherwise no active
partitions on the normal ATA drive whould also work. Additionally, if you
set boot other devices to yes you should also be able to boot SATA.

My boot order is:
USB Zip (USB Flash - since now I've figured out how to make it bootable)
CDROM
SCSI (SATA)
whatever... HHD-0
