My 3 year old computer was trashed when we had a flood,
but my HD was fine, I have installed it in my new
computer with XP. it shows up in the cmos, when I run a
check on the drive it says it is running fine, but it
does not show up in my computer.
When I go to diskmanagement it list it as win-me with no
drive number and it will not let me give it one. The
only options it gives me is delete the partition or help.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks Jim....

Jim, look in the Bios. You may have to select "Auto Detect" in order
for it to work. Also, check your ribbon cable red
stripe aligned with Pin1 on HDD and Motherboard and jumper if it's set
to slave.

I'm having the same problem. HD shows in cmos and in disk
management as healthy and active, but can't assign it a
drive letter. It is 20g and formatted fat32.
Dave.
