Adding a Field to Table for Sorting Purposes

I am working on a report that needs to have the sections sorted in certain
manner that is not alphabetical. Is it good practice to add a field to a
small table to aid in the sorting or would this be considered poor design?
 
Good practice.

That is usually the best way to handle a custom sort.
