Hi

I have one Windows 2000 Server, which handles all the logins on my network.
It's set up with active directory. I want to add a 2nd 2K Server, and have
that one handle the logins instead, and the first (original) server become
just a storage server. Can anyone point me to any online references to help
me do this?

Thanks,
Jeff

You can do this pretty easily. First on the 2nd W2K server run DCPROMO and
make it a domain controller in the domain. Once this is completed, try
taking the other DC offline to make sure the new DC is working correctly. If
so, bring the 1st W2K server back up and run DCPROMO to demote it from being
a DC.

The other option that you have is to transfer the master
role from the first domain controler to the second you
have installed. This would change which server handled
the login role by changing the location of the role of
global catalogue to the second server.
If the case is that you want a member server then follow
the first advice, however this reduces the redundancy if
you are only running two servers that are domain controlls.

Let me know if this helps or you would like more
information.
