I followed Microsoft's procedure to install a second CPU in a dual CPU
system. I have an IBM xSeries 342. It runs Windows 2000 server SP3. It had a
single 1Ghz PIII. I installed 2 1.26Ghz PIII's. Everything is working fine
except for Windows and Internet Explorer. For example I will open any
version of Windows Explorer (explorer, my computer, etc). The window will
open, the left pane will populate, but the right hand pane will not load.
The busy icon in the top right corner will continue to move. If I click on a
menu item such as "file", "edit", or "view" the right pane will resolve and
populate. This will also occur if I press the F5 key to refresh. Internet
Explorer is the same way and won't even open many sites now, including
Windows Update.
All other functions look great. No logged error messages and no missing
device drivers.
