I have had alot of problems with this in the past and
hope someone knows of a workaround for this.
I have had serveral problems in the past when joining a
w2k ws that was "logging on locally" because the systems
were on a peer to peer. After a 2000 server is put
inplace, and the ws is joined to the domain, all user
settings are lost. I.e. desktop, favorites, history,
email, shared folders, and sometimes even printers.
Is there anyway to prevent this or to recover the previous
settings. I have tried the user tab in computer
properties, but usually the old "accounts" come up with a
big question mark and are identified as unknown. I tried
to make a backup copy then copy those setting to the new
account but this really did not work.
Also even when just adding a user to a system that is
shared by multiple people (several different shifts using
the same system under the same email name) The email has
to be setup for each new user, but since they do the same
job they need to have the same inbox and e-mail address.
any ideas would help.
