added pci modem

Hi
Added a generic pci modom to a knocked up system, intalled fine etc, but on
everyreboot it says found new hardware and locating drivers etc, found no
conflicts, no errors and only other pci item is a nic so cant see it being a
irq issuee.....?
anyone?

It's most likely the wave device for the modem.Do you have a drivers
disk for it as they are usually on there?
If not research the modem chip set and download some drivers.hey
should contain it.Daft thing is no one really even uses these drivers
but windows bellyaches for them if they are not installed :/

I did look at the cd that it came with, it actualyl said when installing it
couldnt find any, so i had to find what i thought it was on the cd, will
have another crack at it.

If it says a PCI communications device it's usually the modem wave
drivers so also try here,
http://www.modem-help.co.uk/
for better drivers packs.

thanks Shep, will take a look. Built stacks of puters but not with modems,
and this one has now gone offsite which is a pain. Only fitted 2 in 5 years
with no problems, hence now im stuck for ideas where to look.
