Sure, you can add the standard holidays for various
countries into Outlook, however, here is an easy way to
score points with your clients by creating a calendar from
which they can drop their own specific company holidays
into their calendar. Doing this prevents people from
proposing meetings on days when no one will be in the
office.
Simply create a blank calendar and post all the holidays
on it and mark them as All Day Events and also mark them
as Out of the Office. Post this calendar to a Public
Folder and advise people to change their view to Active
Events so that they can select all the events and drag and
drop them into their own calendar.
Be aware that the calendar is time zone specific. If
someone from another time zone drops the holidays into
their calendar, then the All Day event will shift by as
many hours difference between time zones, creating 2 all
day events for every 1 holiday. The fix is to create
different holiday calendars for the different time zones
and advised users to pick the right one for thier zone.
