I just downloaded a screen saver that put a file "racer.scr" in c:\windows.
When I go to screen saver in control panel/display I don't see it. I did
some looking and it looked like screen savers belong in c:\windows\system32,
so I moved is there, no luck. I renamed it to ssracer.scr, still no luck.
How do I intall this screen saver.

I know it works because when I double click on the file, I get the racing
horses.

Try putting it in C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
But you should be very careful about downloading what appear to be
screensavers. This is a good way to get infected. You should scan the file
with your anti-virus application before installing it.

Have you re-booted since you installed the screen saver? If it is in the
same directory as the others, I would expect it to show up on the list of
screen savers on the Display Properties/Screen Savers box.
