Currently running W2K3 AD. I have a remote office which connects via VPN
tunnel. The remote office is on a class C subnet 192.168.150.0/27 and are in
a local workgroup relying on LMHOSTS to connect to main site. Our main AD
site is B class 10.226.0.0/24.
I need to install aW2K3 server at the remote site and want to make it a DC
to ease delay times , etc.
Do I need to configure a new site via 'AD Sites & Services' entering the
sunet of the remote office on the main AD or can I rely on LMHOSTS to point
to our main AD when I run DCPROMO?
What do I need to do to enable this?

TIA

That's an odd subnet mask, but eh, whatever.

Also make it an AD-integrated DNS server.

Yes, do this in your main office first.

A regular hosts file would work....lmhosts is for Windows/NetBIOS name
resolution. However, you could also set up the remote office router/firewall
to use the main office's DNS server IP (s).

You might find it more convenient to build & preconfigure this server in
your main office, then have it shipped to the remote site. That's been my
experience.
