ADD PAGE NUMBERS IN PPT

I have been trying for two days to add page numbers to my presentation, but
nothing works!!! Please help!

Are you trying to add page numbers to the slides themselves or to the
handout pages? Or are you trying to add numbers below/next to the slides on
the handout pages?

Need more info from you.
 
First, go to View > Headers and Footers and be sure that the Slide Number item
is checked and click on Apply to All.

If that doesn't do the trick, go to View > Master > Slide Master > Format >
Master Layout. Is Slide number checked? If not, click on the check box to
select it and click OK. Now go to View > Normal. Do you see the slide number?
If not, post back here and tell us exactly what you did and what you see at each
step.
 
It sounds crazy, but I am simply trying to add normal page numbers onto the
actual slide...i have never had this problem before. I have tried inserting
page numbers (to all) and that doesn't work, I have tried going to view and
then choosing headers and footers, and THAT doesn't work. What am i doing
wrong???
 
Sonia's information about making sure there's a slide number placeholder on
the master should help, then.

Sonia, IT WORKED!!!! Now, the only problem is, how do I make sure the
numbers show up in black on the white pages and white on the colored pages??
 
Go to View > Master > Slide Master and set things to your liking. Move the
placeholder if that is what you mean.
