Windows XP Add or remove programs - not working

When I click on Add or remove programs, the box pops up but doesn't populate. I have tried a repair re-install of XP but it hasn't worked.

Can anyone please suggest a way of fixing it?

Thanks for the link. I don't think it's the same problem. Add or remove programs doesn't populate at all, the 'please wait while it populates' message comes up but then nothing happens - not even an error message.
