add new software windows defender

I didn't see your answer to the "add new software" question Bill. In
addition I would like to change/provide information on programs that are
identified as "Not yet classified" in Software Explorer but I know what they
are. Is that possible?

The URL references a graphic description of the "antispyware lifecycle" as I
recall.

Windows Defender depends on Spynet voting. One way of looking at this is
that Microsoft doesn't know you (or me) well enough to trust our individual
judgements, but they are willing to aggregate our votes with those of some
large number of others, and make judgements based on those aggregated votes.

So--the way to get the apps moved is, presumably, to turn on notification
for unclassified objects (near the bottom of tools, general settings, and to
switch your spynet membership to advanced, rather than basic.

You will then get annoying notifications for these items, and be able to
record your choices about them--so you take your choices. You can always go
back and uncheck the notification box if you get tired of it.

There is a privacy implication to choosing advanced membership. The way I
understand the meaning of what they are saying is that personally
identifying info may be transmitted to microsoft as part of the exchanges
that are enabled by the higher level membership. Microsoft promises to
treat this information with care, and not to use it to contact you. I don't
know the details about what underlies this description, but I'm willing to
trust them.
