Background:
My PC has one HD (80Gig) which had XP Home upgraded to XP
Pro. I have a problem associated with WPA whereby the
activation grace period of the XP Pro expires in a week.
From the advise of some of the forum members, I,ve decided
to go clean install. I bought an identical HD and plan to
install it and install the XP Home (original copy for the
PC).
Procedure:
1. Disconnect the existing HD. Install the new HD as
primary master.
2. Install XP Home in the HDD-0.
3. Re-connect the old HD as primary slave.
4. Delete XP Pro from the slave drive.
After the above, here's where I am not sure of what's next.
Can I move programs, folders and files directly from the
old drive to the new? Or do I format slate clean the old
drive instead. I backed up the contents of the old drive
on CDs. Should I use these instead? I need to do something
soon or my existing XP Pro quit working.
