In my network works a Cluster server which is principally responsible for managing the Sharing file of the data of the domain users. It is composed by two nodes and a Disk Array With 3 Hard Disks in RAID 5. (disk Q: S:

Opening Cluster Administrator we can see only this group: Cluster Group, constituted in this way
- Cluster IP address 192.168.6.1
- Cluster name CLU_P
- Disk Q (with parameters Q:(Quorum) S:(Shared_Disk
- Share (with dependencies Disk Q, share name Cond, and Path S:\

Question: are those settings correct?

A few days ago Cluster server was upgraded, applying 3 new Hard disks in RAID 5, which was called Disk E: on both node. He is not yet in function.
I would like that also this disk E: performing Sharing file for the data and the folders of the domain users.
Question: must I set up another virtual server or can I add the second disk (E:) to Cluster Group?

Quorum already exists on first disk (Q: S:). Must I create it also on the second disc? What is the right road to use the new (E:) disc, and what is the right road to do this?

Thanks, and sorry for my englishâ€

Stefano,

You only need one quorum resource per cluster. As long as you still have
"disk Q" as part of your cluster, there's no need to adjust anything in
MSCS.

You can add the Disk E resource to the Cluster Group if you would like to
have one big group, though it is a best practice (and highly recommended) to
not add resource to the Cluster Group. Also, if you create another virtual
server, it would be possible to have an Active/Active cluster where both
cluster nodes are servicing their own file shares.

If you want more information about why you shouldn't put resources in the
cluster group, you can check the following KB article:
