I just downloaded TweakUI and when I run it, I do not see anything about "places bar" under common dialogs. I only see something about "autocomplete". I am running XP Home. Does that make a difference? Any other ideas?

Thanks

Hi,
You can add other places to the places bar through TweakUI. Under TweakUI,
navigate to common dialogs>places bar and you can add yoriu custom places.

Download TweakUI from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Hi,
There is a '+' sign next to the 'Common Dialogs' click to expand it and you
will see places bar. Then click on places bar.

I just discovered by doing a little experimenting that the "+" (and the Places dialog) is there for the owner account but not for my normal user account. Is there any way to get this capability enabled on a non-administrator account

Thank

Hi,
Then this script by Kelly might help you to add places to the places bar:

Add folders to the "Save as" dialog places bar (line 118, right column)

I meant in a standard window, NOT in a FILE OPEN / SAVE dialog window.

I already have TweakUI and X-teq's X-Setup ;-)

The side bar you are referring to is called the Common Tasks Bar. The Other
Places list is programmed to show associated places depending on the type of
file that is selected and is not user configurable. It would likely mean
changing the code in some DLL files to change this.
