I am trying to install both a Microsoft Add-In and a third
party add-in feature for Powerpoint 2002. When I click on
the tools menu, the add-in feature is grayed out. I
thought if I changed the security in the macros of
powerpoint, it would allow this feature to be loaded,
however it is still grayed out. Please tell me why the add-
in feature is grayed out and how I can fix this problem to
get the add-in loaded. Thank you very much!

Which addin are you trying to install? Does it give you installation
instructions? Some addins have their own installers, which means you
wouldn't use the Tools/Addins dialog within PPT to install them.

installers, and they actually give instructions on how to
load the add-in which involves going to tools/add-ins
dialog box. However, being that it is grayed out, I cannot
load it. Help! Thanks!!!

Jonathan,
Did you install VBA support with Office 2002. If that was not selected you
cannot run code or load the VBA environment.

Is VBA support installed in the "typical" installation
routine or do I need to go back and re-install more
features?

Do a quick check - What happens when you press Alt+F11 in the PowerPoint
window?
