I'm getting ready to install a new hard drive in my son's computer Saturday.
After installing do I have to make any changes in bios?

No. If you install it correctly it will automatically be recognized.

Don't generate unnecessary static electricity. Remove yr clothes first
and do it in bare feet ;-)

You might need to or not. Some MBs autodetect, some also have features
that you might want to enable or disable. You should be able to get hold
of a manual if it doesn't quite plug and play. But with a relatively
recent machine, you should be OK.

If the drive is a PATA drive then
check the drive jumpers, your
original drive show be jumped
as "Master" and the new drive as "Slave"

If the drives are from different manufactures
you may need to try the "Cable Select" jumper
setting.

<Snip> No. If you install it correctly it will automatically be recognized.
