I have just captured 1hr15min DV onto my PC (in AVI format).
I added brightness to one of the clips and when I played it(clip), the
audio quality was bad - high pitch.
Has anyone experiece this(i.e. loosing audio quality) when changing
effects on clips...? Is there a workaround/fix for this?

Thanks
Sandiyan

It happens particularly with DV AVI output. Easist is to do the movie in two
passes. First pass: all the transitions etc without audio and then save the
movie as dv avi. import the saved movie in another project and apply audio.

Other thigns to try are

Convert your audio to WAV 16bit 2-channel 48KHz using some other software.
Save to WMV format.

Answer to Toby's query... Yes, if I remove the effect it comes back to
original quality. Looks like a problem in MM2 to me...!

Rehan Thanks for your response. I am not with you on the two pass
strategy...Correct me if I am wrong:

1st Pass - Create my movie(storyboard) with all visual
effects/transitions and save it as an avi file. Can I save without
audio...?

2nd Pass - Import the saved avi(from 1st pass) into a new project and
then add audio... Whats the strategy to add audio that was already
removed from these clips...?

Ta, Sandiyan.

Sorry I didnt realize the problem is in the audio of the movie clips
themselves... Generally it affects the adio in the music track... which can
be done in the second pass.

Hmmm. in this case does WMV work? If it does then either just use that or if
you want DV AVI may be

1. you can extract the audio channel from the WMV
2. mute the clips and make a dv avi
3. open the new dv avi in another project and put the audio of step 1 in the
music channel.

To extract the audio from the WMV you can do that using Windows Media
Encoder tools.

So have you tried other effects with the same results, and if so are you
running MM 2.1 and with what audio card. Have you tried unchecking all of
the items in Tools | advanced | compatibility to see if that makes a
difference.
