Add Effect - Sound Actions - play, pause, stop

Can someone point me to some tutorial/articles on the captioned subject please.

I assume "play" under sound actions is the same as inserting sound, custom
animation, sound effect, effect options ......

Is it true that for pause to work, I must loop sound beyond the current slide?

Ellen Finkelstein had a Tutorial "Control movies with buttons" recently:

It is applicable to music as well.

According to my experience, Pause works with non-looped sounds, but it does
not work with every file type. It does not work with MID-sounds, works best
for me with WAV.
