How does one add or delete programs/ items from computer start up? I have a
couple of items I would like to have start automatically, and several I
would like to remove.

Hi

Best way is to have a look in the programs for the options/preferences. If
not available - for the stopping on start up - msconfig>startup. Uncheck
any programs there you don't want starting up with Windows, then reboot your
system.

On each program you don't want to start automatically, check its Options to
see if it has the choice not to start. Many can easily and best be stopped
that way. If that doesn't work, run MSCONFIG from the Start | Run line, and
on the Startup tab, uncheck the programs you don't want to start
automatically.

To add a program, put a shortcut to it in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

You can also right click the start button, go to "Explore" and browse to and
open the folder "startup" and delete, what in most cases, is a shortcut to
the program that is starting when Windows loads (in my experience anyway).

Otherwise, through the application itself or through MSconfig, as has
already been mentioned in another reply to this thread.
