Hello,
Does Outlook give an error when it closes? Does it ask you to start in
safe mode the next time you start it? I would suggest trying a new
profile, with a new PST file to try and isolate where the problem is. To
do so, follow the following article...
195718 OL2000: (CW) How to Create a New E-mail Profile for Outlook
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=195718
... and then try and reproduce your problem by inserting a contact into the
new PST file. If this resolves it, let's try running the Inbox Repair tool
against your existing PST file. You can do so by following this article...
272227 OL2000: How to Find and Run the Inbox Repair Tool
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=272227
If a new profile and PST resolves the issue, and running the Inbox Repair
Tool on your old PST does not help, you can try improting your data from
the old PST into the new one, and see if that helps your issue. Here's an
article that touches on the steps require to do that.
