Hi there,
I'm running Excel 2000 and would like to add a new column
to an existing pivot table. This would be a new column
from the original datasheet. I have tried to re-open the
Wizard, and backed up to Step 2 where you select the Data.
This step correctly selects all the data including the new
column. But I can't get that new column to be added to
the pivot table toolbar .

Is the only thing to do just create a brand new pivot
table? Thanks for suggestions!
Sue

Sue,

Try using insert to add a column _internally_ to your data table, and add
your data to the new column. Then select your pivot table and refresh it,
using the red exclamation point on the pivot table commandbar. That should
make the new column show up. If it doesn't then you may need to simply
rebuild your pivot table.

Thank you for this answer, I just used it 8 years after its original posting and it saved me hours of grief.
Slight update: The Refresh button on the Pivot Table menu is a more 21st-century icon of green arrows, so don't look for an exclamation point.
