If you are dubious about the understanding of RAID then you might invest
your time into learning about it more so you can weigh in on whether or
you want to use it. Alternatively you may want to consider using that
second 160 gb drive in an external enclosure with backup software to
schedule regular daily or weekly backups of your data, then you don't have
to consider the thought of RAID in the first place.
One of the biggest drawbacks of RAID, that I see, is that if you
suddenly get a virus that screws up your OS or destroys certain files then
so does the mirrored RAID drive.
