add and remove programmes

I am running windows xp pro and want to remove a program . However when I go
into add and remove programmes the list does not populate.Any solutions
please?

Is it completely blank or do you have a few entries and then a large
blank space and then more programs? If so this is a known issue. I
would have to do some looking for the solution. But I seem to remember
it's a pretty easy fix.
