Add a graphic image on top of an AVI file while the moving is play

I am trying to superimpose a graphic on top of a playing AVI file. I have
the event programmed, but the image does not appear. The movie does not stop
playing.

Has anyone else tried to do this?

You can't. Video always plays "on top" of everything else in PowerPoint.

The only possible way (except for fairly expensive add ins) is to use a video
editor (or flash) to produce the video with the picture inserted at the
approprate time.
